After our awesome trip to Barcelona, F.C. and I decided to go on a road trip with family to Tossa de Mar, Costa Brava. Even though Costa Brava does have quite a few places that are beautiful, with the limited time on our trip, we headed north to Tossa De Mar. Tossa de Mar is nothing short of absolutely stunning, with its pristine beaches, cobbled streets and an awesome medieval castle. It’s a place that can easily be seen in a day! Here’s how:

1) Head to the medieval castle

One of the first things you should be doing is heading up the medieval castle (known as Castillo de Tossa de Mar) that pretty much is a defining factor of the city. It’s a very easy trek, just a few minutes up. On the way up, just pause for a few and look around. You can get some amazing photo ops from here, so take your time!

2) Get lost in the cobblestone streets of Tossa de Mar

Walking through the city of Tossa de Mar is just magical and out of a fairytale stuck in time. Every nook and corner has these little trinket shops. However, note that Tossa de Mar like most seaside cities can be quite expensive, so spend wisely!

Some of the streets as you hike up the castle as well are very narrow.

3) Lounge on the beach

While the beach during the summer can be quite crowded, there are a few beaches around the area. They are best accessed by foot. A lot of people bring their own kayaks and snorkelling gear, but you can also get your own yacht and party the day away. Warning: The water is FREEZING.

4) Eat by the sea-side

Choose to indulge in atleast one restaurant by the seaside on your visit to Tossa de Mar, if you’re on a bit of a budget. We had to venture deep inside the town to find an affordable place under 10 euros per person. If you choose to splurge, I can highly recommend this pizza place called Pizzeria Bello right on the coast to watch the sunset.

Looking to stay the night?

Because Tossa de Mar has a lot of nightlife, many choose to stay the night. If that’s your case and you’re looking for a place to spend the night, then Hotel Marblau Tossa is the right place. it’s clean, the breakfast selection is great, and the staff speaks Spanish, Catalan, French and English!

I hope you enjoyed my little list! Have you been to Tossa de Mar? Do you have any recommendations on what to do during a day trip here?
