Wander past LE66 in Citywalk 2and you’ll come across a beautiful contemporary style cafe called Roux. Wonderfully homegrown, this destination was founded by Shames and Mariam Al Hashemi and boasts fantastic organic fanfare. Not only is Roux making the rounds for its breakfast; I went there for dinner and delighted in the food as well.
At another exciting edition of #Nomwithme where I got to take a fellow blogger, we started our evening with a rose latte for her (she loved it) and a toasted coconut mocha with almond milk for me. The coffee is absolutely fantastic, with a choice of Arabica or Ethiopian beans. The staff is very knowledgeable about the menu and the beans on offer, so it was a real pleasure!
For our mains, we ordered the ultimate fries, buffalo chicken strips and fish tacos. The ultimate fries were absolutely delicious! I could not stop eating them, they were addictive, saucy and mildly spicy enough to get a kick. The buffalo chicken strips were just too subtle in terms of flavor, though they were tasty, but the fish tacos were crispy and delicious.
In the case of dessert, I think this is where Roux kinda failed me. I was very enticed by their bee sting cake, but was disappointed to taste a dry bit of nothingness. However, my blogger friend happened to try out some of the potted desserts that proved to be pretty good. I’m keen to try out the breakfast because I’ve heard so much of the same, but even more so I’m keen on going back for the ultimate fries!
