I was very grateful to have received the media invite for the new unveiling of the latest McGettigan’s in the Souk Madinat Jumeirah. I was very excited to try out their new bites over a pint. This McGettigan’s is very conveniently located right by the entrance of the lake level Souk Madinat Jumeirah which comes as a slight sigh of relief as you don’t need to walk miles and miles into the souk in heels to get a drink. A huge plus, in my opinion. 😉

Also, the view of the Burj Al Arab right outside the pub is pretty great.

The interiors are akin to the other McGettigan’s pubs, with a very homely sports bar-feel. i was lucky enough to meet Dennis McGettigan, the CEO and son of the founder Jim McGettigan, who said they were expanding to other countries, including in Jakarta, Indonesia and several ones in the U.S.

I love the story of McGettigan’s’ humble beginnings in 1969 when he bought an inn in liquidation called the Baggot Inn.  BTW, did you know Tracey Chapman launched her career at that very inn? Jim & his son Dennis (who is now CEO of the McGettigan’s group) have turned it around to make it the massive franchise it is today.

Dennis McGettigan, CEO. Yep, GOT TO MEET HIM. (P.C.: The McGettigan’s Group)

We started out the night with a pint and a delicious wagyu beef nachos. May I just say these were epic in every form possible? The smokiness and the sweetness were just a delight and my favourite meal of the night.

Besides this, we also try the batter fried fish and chips which were crispy and tantalising with the delicious tartare sauce.

Also tried their wagyu beef sliders which were juicy and delicious. Extremely nice & simple comfort food at this branch!

They also had a truffle pizza that truly surprised me in terms of flavours and taste in an extremely good way.

We also tried the fish cakes, which in my opinion were a little bit too greasy for my liking. The fish was fresh, however. Not as good as the fish and chips.

I also recently got to go have a Cheers meetup with The Entertainer! Check out all the fun that was had here.

Well, there you have it, my review on McGettigan’s in Souk Madinat Jumeirah! Have you been there yet? What do you think! Let me know in the comments below!
