When I was looking for places to have my birthday brunch, Bazxar in DIFC was one of my first choices. Why? If I had to choose an age to live in other than now, it would be the 1920’s. Flapper dresses, unique architecture and glamour are all parts of why I love it.

I had come earlier to Bazxar because I won a dinner from The Entertainer. At the time the food was a hit and miss. I was hoping the brunch would deliver and I’m glad to say, it did! My friends and I opted for the “moonshine package” which involves a selection of alcohol for AED 395. There is also a bubbly package which is AED 495 and a non-alcoholic package for AED 295.

I love how old school the decor is!

This is their area called ‘The Meat District’. Not very 1920’s, but such a cool vibe!

We were a large party of 13 people and our entrance to the brunch was seamless. I think the slightly higher price point keeps it a bit less sparse than it should be, but I was really happy because we were so well taken care of from start to finish. There was a gentleman that came around offering us delicious old fashioned’s made from scratch and our server Mahmoud was excellent; recommending just the right quantities for us to try to ensure minimum food wastage.

Don’t you just love this swanky bar?

I love brunches that are a la carte with food served to table and that is exactly what Bazxar delivered. The brunch is structured in a way that there are unlimited starters, one main course and a selection of multiple desserts. The menu is a bit Pan-Asian inspired, with pot stickers and tofu baos (both of which were delicious, btw). We loved everything from the starters menu, most of us were even scarfing down the salad!

The potstickers were an absolute fav!

I loved the vegetarian options – including this tofu bao!

The starters were so filling, we were kind of glad we got only one main course each! I tried their chicken buffalo burger which was delicious; as was the beef burger. I got mixed reviews about the short rib from my friends and apparently the katsu curry was just average.

We were so busy enjoying the music, we barely ate! We thoroughly enjoyed the music!

My crew and I! (Sorry for the red eye)

The dessert came as an assortment of freakshakes and tiramisu, which I ignored (mostly because I was buzzed and dancing) but my guests really loved those as well.

All in all, money well spent at one of the best brunches in town!

  1. Oh the vegetarian options look sooo yummy! I see you enjoyed it 🙂 seems quite expensive though? Maybe that’s because it’s quite a unique spot

    1. It is definitely high-end, but your birthday only comes once a year, so maybe it’s worth it 😉

  2. I’d probably also chosen to live in the 20s with both the fashion and glamour of that time. The food looks and is absolutely amazing btw, especially tofu bao. I wanna taste that one!

  3. First of all, wish you a very happy belated birthday! Love the decor of the Bazxar and the brunch looks incredibly delicious too!
